Couples Therapy
When the same arguments keep happening, conversations feel tense, or the connection between you has started to fade, it can be difficult to know how to move forward. Couples therapy provides a space to slow things down, understand what's happening beneath the conflict, and begin rebuilding connection.
Why Couples Seek Therapy
Every relationship experiences challenges. Stress, parenting responsibilities, busy schedules, life transitions, communication difficulties, and unresolved hurts can gradually create distance between partners. Over time, couples may find themselves having the same arguments, feeling misunderstood, avoiding important conversations, or wondering how they became so disconnected from one another.
Couples therapy provides a structured and supportive space to better understand these patterns and the emotions driving them. Rather than focusing solely on the conflict itself, we explore what is happening beneath the surface—often the unmet needs, fears, vulnerabilities, and attachment injuries that keep couples stuck in cycles of disconnection. Together, we work to improve communication, strengthen emotional safety, rebuild trust, deepen understanding, and create healthier ways of navigating challenges as a team.
My approach to couples therapy draws primarily from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. Sessions are practical, collaborative, and tailored to your unique relationship. Whether you are hoping to strengthen your connection, repair after a betrayal, navigate a difficult transition, or determine the future of your relationship, therapy can provide a space to move forward with greater clarity and understanding.
Stephanie Sliwa Therapy offers couples therapy for partners in Langton, Simcoe, and throughout Norfolk County, with virtual services available across Ontario.
